First Biennial
Enamel Art has deep traditions in Georgia, yet for long period this field of art has been neglected. Its revival started in the 90ies of the XX century with the appearance of young generation. This exactly why The I International Enamel Biennial organized by Chardin art Gallery in 2004 was called “New Wave”. Biennial reflected the new, leading trends in this field of art.
Of the 70 artists from 15 countries, participated in the contest, only 40 have the honor of taking part in the exhibition. Workshops for teaching enamel techniques, held by member of the Board of Enamel Society Ms. Judy Stone and seminar, discussing traditions of both Georgian and American enamel was part of the event.
